ZOTAC ZBOX MI522 NANO Decent Hardware for UTM 9

Hi There,

Before I pull the trigger, on buying this hardware, does anyone have any advice regarding this Zbox MI522? It's for a family of 5, with the usual xbox, Media Streaming, (Netflix, Amazon Fire) I don't think I'll be enabling Web filtering, but I will be using it for a Point to Point VPN connection with a friend who's also using UTM 9. Running cable 50 Down/5 up

Thanks,

  • hey,

    think its oversized..

a zotac zbox CI323 should be ok. put in 8GB RAM and a 120 GB SSD and you are fine  :-)

i run a CI 321 at my home without any problems.. 1 IPSEC-Tunnel to my work and the usual (streaming, Amazon, surfing....)

  • Hi Zaphod,

So the Celron processor will be okay? I read a few other threads that always recommended the core i3

  • If you dont use all features from UTM it will be ok...

the smaller CI 321 is ok for me.. never got a cpu problem....  i have webfiltering enabled ;-)

at least its your decision... i think the ci323 is enough.... 8 GB RAM and a SSD is important...

  • Gotcha, yeah I don't think I really need to enable IPS, I'm more concerned about point to point VPN throughput, PC/Xbox gaming for the kids, and obviously security. So I'll go with that model, it saves me half the cost :)

Appreciate your time to answer my question!
