HA Licensing Procedure

Anyone-

I have two brand new SG310s with TotalProtect licenses.  I have both my units registered in MyUTM account.

What is the process to create an HA Active/Active cluster license?  When I install the individual licenses in the units, the second unit reads LICENSE.

I can;t find a doc that says "do this, then do that, then download the file and install it".

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

  • Hi, Jim, and welcome to the UTM Community!

I'm surprised that your reseller didn't cover this with you.  Active/Active doubles the cost of your subscription.  In MyUTM, you can add a node to make a cluster, but that will cut the subscription life to half.

  • Hello Jim,
Did you ever get this resolved? I'm told that once you apply your license key on MyUtm (and download it of course), that the active-active option will appear in the HA configuration tab. As Paul Harvey used to say, "...and that's the rest of the story." I have not personally witnessed this so I'm very intrigued to hear about your adventures.

  • One can only hope that he got in contact with his reseller and that they were honest and competent.  I haven't done an Active/Active license in many years, so the process may have changed.  If you want a one-year Active/Active license, you buy a one-year subscription and a one-year extension, activate the subscription, change to two nodes and apply the extension.

    Cheers - Bob
