Sebastian, I recommend against using Range definitions. They are a recent (less than three years) addition, and more likely to cause problems in any new version.
I'm hopeful that the experience of the last ten months will have taught Sophos upper management something. It's optimistic to note that they finally moved a bunch of the developers back onto the current versions to squash some of the bugs created during the feverish responses to Heartbleed, Shellshock and POODLE.
