Installing Software ASG, Stuck

I just bought a Shuttle DS81 and thought this would be a great box for an ASG but I am running into issues with the installation.  

The install gets to "detecting other devices" and then gets stuck.

In reading the other posts and looking at the log it seems to me that the in built SD card reader may be causing the issue.

I tried logging into the BIOS and unfortunately there is no way to disable the card reader.  Are there any commands that will allow me to force an install to sda instead of getting stuck on sdb?

Or any other ideas?  I have a note into shuttle to see if there is a way to disable it but I haven't heard back as yet.

    Hi Barry, thank you but I did try this and received the same error.  I provided the install log for that earlier in the thread.  My apologies for now making that more clear. [:)]

    Hi, 

    When you tried installing from the SD, did you have any other drives connected (e.g. a CDROM, etc.)?

    Another option is to install the system onto your hard drive using a different motherboard, but the same NICs, and then move the drive back.

    I have the same problem as risaac with the same hardware.

    I tried to install via SD-Card and it stuck at the same point.
    Except for the USB-keyboard and a HDMI cable nothing more is connected.

    Another option is to install hyper-v directly onto the shuttle and see if you can get that to work.  Then you can run UTM on that....or try vmware.  Given my experiences with shuttles recently though you may be needing different hardware.  Since you got centos to work you can also try running kvm inside centos then running utm inside of that.

    I've moved away from shuttles as they have become ultra picky about ram and even some hard drives.  UTM uses a reduced driverset that does not have the same driver library as something like Centos.  I would look at the unofficial ACL for advice on different hardware.

    Thank you William, 

    I think I've found the solution to install UTM directly via SD-Card
    Whilst it got stuck again, I hit alt F2 to go directly to the shell.

    enter the following command: /usr/lib/bootstrap --install

    et voilà - the hardware scan runs on a second instance without problems and installs the UTM to the DS81 [:)]

    Shuttle/Sophos: 0    -     Erik: 1 - lol

    just having exactly the same problem with the hanging installer at 16%.
    Tried your solution, but didn´t worked for me.
    Getting "no such file or directory"

    Could you tell me the trick?
    I think I´ve missed something before ...
    My Linux Knowledge is limited, so I hope for some help...[:(]

    Hi Dennis,

    when you are in the shell can you change to directory /usr/lib ?

    if not, your mounts are gone and need to be restated.

    Did you get this issue solved ? Facing the asme problem with the same hardware.

    considering that i really do not think that sd card media is supported do you have the ability to try an hdd install?

    Tried installing asg-9.308-16.1.iso from CD and USB on shutlle DS81
    Both install hang on "Detecting other devices"
    Have seen similar problem with thesame hardware but none of 
    the suggestions work for me.
    Anyone have a working solution or some suggestions ?
