Astaro with ATT U-Verse

I am in the process of switching from DSL to U-Verse. I also requested a block of static IP addresses. Now, I understand that the modem used for U-Verse does not support bridged mode allowing me to do PPOE in Astaro.

What are my alternatives? Did somebody get this to work?

ATT is also talking about an RG (residential gateway). It sounds like that it is a modem/router combination device. Are there alternatives? Is there a 3rd party modem?

Technician will come to my home on Saturday. So, I would appreciate some quick feedback.

    Yes, definitely a Motorola NVG-510 for business accounts here.  Bruce makes a good point.  Ask what router they're planning to give you when you call to place your order with AT&T.  Originally that was an potential problem here too, but I believe the Moto 510 is now standard issue for business accounts in our area.

    Eganders; the Moto router is only issued for business and residential accounts on the ADSL2+ "flavor" of U-Verse... if a business or residence is located in an area where the DSLAM (or VRAD in the case of VDSL) is provisioned with ADSL2+, they will get the Motorola unit.  If they are located in an area where VDSL is provisioned, they WILL end up with the 2-Wire or Pace unit... it is not a matter of businesses getting a different gateway, the choice is solely decided by how AT&T provisioned the remote terminal that feeds the customer site, and they do not mix VDSL and ADSL2+ in the same remote.

    Just because you are a business does not mean that you will get the Motorola unit; I know this because I've provisioned several businesses myself, and what the customer ends up is solely decided by what kind of xDSL is provided in that area.

    No problem... there's a lot of confusion out there regarding AT&T's U-Verse (believe me, it took me a great while to get through all the rumours and misinformation myself when I first started dealing with it), just wanted it clarified for any readers of this thread.

    AT&T really does a very poor job of explaining and supporting the business use of this service, time and time again my company has had to fill in where their "expertise" leaves off.
