Deleted log files but disk space not cleared

I have deleted all of the log files via webadmin, yet the disk space has not been cleared.

There were too many old logfiles in /var/log - the firewall
deleted /var/log/*20020906* (date style: YYYYMMDD) and freed
48 kBytes of harddisk space.

System Uptime: 28 days 0 hours 46 minutes
System Load: 0.29
System Version: Astaro Security Linux  3.209

Anyone know how to delete the log files?

Ian...

  • Ian Collins,

login as root cd to /var/log and run "rm -f *.gz" .
If you do not need the accounting information
you could delete these files as well, cd to
/var/log/accounting and run "rm -rf *" - but
be absolutely sure that you are in the correct
    directory   [;)]
