Hardware support for AMD Ryzen Embedded Systems

Is there any plan or beta version of the UTM software that supports AMD Ryzen Embedded Systems (V1000 chipsets)?

Thus far I have been unsuccessful in attempts to install 9.5, 9.6, and 9.7 as the installer gets stuck in a loop during cpu checks.

I have been using the UTM platform for years and would prefer to stick with it as I move to new hardware.

On a side note - installers for XG 18, Untangle 15, and beta version of OpnSense 20 all support this hardware.

Please notify me of any updates.

  • I would be surprised if it will be supported. UTM platform is still maintained, but won't see too many new features anymore since XG is the successor where currently all the new features get implemented.

Managing several Sophos firewalls both at work and at some home locations, dedicated to continuously improve IT-security and feeling well helping others with their IT-security challenges.

  • This would not be adding new features, just adjusting the hardware check run during install to match the XG.

As mentioned in my last post, many other competitors have already made this install tweak to support newer hardware.

  • While it's technically not a new feature, it might be necessary that chunks of code need to be rewritten to keep the platform stable. I bet it's more than just the check during install.

It would indeed be good if Sophos implemented it, but as I said, I don't think they will put much effort in this.
