SFP installation for WAN connection

Hello,

Our ISP ATT is going to be installing a new router in our telco room for connections, we are moving from a copper handoff to a fiber handoff, currently we have fiber that comes into building into an ATT fiber switch that is then connected via copper to the ATT cisco router, from the router it is copper to the UTM WAN port. ATT is going to be switching to all fiber connections, my question is I am going to be plugging a SFP module into the UTM to connect to the new cisco ATT router via Fiber. When I do this do i just need to change the interface options to configure the new SFP eth10 to match what is currently setup for the WAN port then disable the external WAN port? is there any documentation for making a change like this?

  • Hi timbreck,

there are no configuration changes needed when switching from copper to fiber beside the interface switch.

If your copper connection runs on eth5 just switch to eth10 if this is your fiber connection.

The only thing that might happen is the login data for your connection.
