The Azure problem

I have been using Sophos UTM for about 2 years in SMB settings. Been a huge proponent of the product. My most recent position has use migrating to Azure. I found out over the weekend Sophos does not support IKEv2 and thus IPSec Tunnels are not supported by MS. What are people doing to get around this problem? It isn't like Azure is something new. More and more companies are migrating some or all work loads into it.  The work arounds found on the internet I tried didnt work. And I just got off the phone with Support which said there isnt much they can do for me. I'm actually shocked at the lack of support Sophos has in this space.

I have my sales rep working with his Sophos reps but the only thing about IKEv2 seems to be for the XG platform. I have tried XG and thought it was pretty bad. And would not want to deploy.

What have people done to get this working? Is this something I can realistically expect UTM 9 to eventually support?

Thanks,

  •  You can still setup an IPSEC tunnel with MS Azure (Virtual Network Gateway) using IKEv1. This will work without modifications if you're using the classic Azure Portal. If you are using the new Azure Portal, just make sure that your virtual network gateway is "policy based" and not "route based" and this will work. I've used this a few times myself.
