Cannot activate SSH shell access

Under Authentication, there are two checkboxes, password and public key.  You must choose one of these and click the Apply button.

On the shell access page everything but the password fields is grayed out :-(

And the slider at the upper right of the page won't let you move it to the right?

Try re-setting the loginuser and root passwords, one at a time.  I've heard some people report issues recently with setting them both at one time.

You can also try updating to current first as well, 9.307.  Could be a fix for what you're seeing.

When I move the slider I get immediately the error message.

I tried setting the passwords, one at time, both at the same time, different passwords, same password, ...

Updating is not possible, because the update process is stuck with wrong update file (u2d-sys-9.211003-304011.tgz.gpg) in the cache dir.

This is why i need shell access to delete it.

Hmm, looks like no update without shell access and no shell access without update :-(

Can you get direct console access via keyboard, mouse, and monitor?

It looks like this is the only way.
But I can only do this next week. The firewall is in the customers office...

Once you get console access:

Login as loginuser
"su -" without quotes to elevate to root
Run:  cc set ssh password_auth 1

That last command enables password authentication from the backend, the same as ticking the box on the WebAdmin page.  This should allow you to get past the error in WebAdmin and enable SSH access.

The update to 9.308-16 didn't fix the SSH problem, but the "set ssh password_auth 1" worked. :-)

Hi, we are encountering the same problem. Unfortunately the device is lacted at a remote location. We already reinstalled from scratch, but imported the backup. Still the same error. Is there another way to fix?
