License renewal SG UTM

As "Basic Guard" License was no longer available for renewal, customer chose Full Guard.

Due to new Licensing the new License is applied in myutm portal automatically.

But, as the new license has not started yet - can we already apply the new license file on UTM?

As the new license file would most likely override old license. And license preview on UTM shows 2024-02-06 as start date for basic guard as well.

Would the appliance will be unlicensed until 2024-02-07, if we apply new license file now?

  • So, wait for expiration and try to activate new license in 2024-02-07? Or contact order processing and try to fix before?
If so, what kind of fix would that be? Full Guard starting date overlapping old expiration?

Appliance was sold in 2022, so no way to sell customer complete new FW + Installation cost yet after only 2 years...

  • SFOS offers a free migration and bringing the entire license with them. But for your situation you should contact Sophos Sales / distribution to get to a solution here.

  • Thanks!

License migration to SFOS yes - but cost/time for reinstall and reconfigure would be greater than cost of another 2-year extension of the old license as new features are not needed at the moment. Hardware replacement would be needed as well, if SFOS 20 is last release for SG/XG appliances.
