Sophos Firewall Home Edition vs. the Free UTM version

This may have been covered elsewhere, but nothing recent was found.

For a year I have been running the Free Sophos UTM 9 at home. I had some problems with my hardware, and I need to reload the firewall. The Sophos Free Home web page now lands on the Home Use XG https://1921681254.mx/ https://100001.onl/ Firewall. But I could not find where it is as feature rich as the Free UTM product.

QUESTIONS: (1) Is the XG limit 4 cores and 6 GB of RAM give more or less throughput over the Free UTM? (2) Does the XG Firewall have the same powerful Deep Packet Inspection engine as the UTM with 10s of thousands of patterns? (3) Does the XG Firewall have the Country Blocking by region or country with the separate inbound/outbound settings & exceptions?

Just make sure you download the correct version (Not the hardware appliance one, the software appliance is what you need).

As far as XG v UTM:  The hardware I don't believe is an issue for home users.

There are a lot of other reasons why people aren't using XG over UTM (I personally don't like the XG product, the interface to set things up is confusing, and when you think you set something up right, it's not right).

There are also a lot of other posts out there (reddit, etc. such as this one: XG vs UTM : sophos (reddit.com)) filled with reasons why people will stay with UTM until it's gone, then go elsewhere.  And there are people who rave about XG, probably because they haven't used UTM for as long as some of us, and started off with XG.

XG does have DPI, but I can't answer your question about patterns, because I really don't know (I stopped looking at XG a while back after pure frustration with it).

Yes, it does have country blocking, but it's not as straight forward as it is in UTM. Create a country-based firewall rule - Sophos Firewall
