Wifi speed problems on utm 9.705

Try switching router into AP mode and see if that resolves.

Hi . It is already in bridge mode. I have tried both but same issue. 

Ok, so double NAT isn't the issue.  Wifi devices are on same ip range as local.

Pick a wifi device, and see if anything shows up in firewall, IPS or web filtering for its IP.

I have tried to turn off one service at the time. 
but no luck.

intrusion prevention,web filtering, advanced threat protection. But no luck.

it seems for me that something is slowing down my speed. There is nothing like a limit in home license or something?  My upload is perfect.

Well, home use is limited to 50 IPs and 32k connections. Depending on what you are doing and how many active devices, the 32k can either be a ton, or not enough.  Can look in the logging&reporting > network usage > bandwidth usage > top clients today if memory serves. There's definitely one place to start.

Thx i will take a lokk. And try the logfiles when i connect my wifi device. 
i think its strange that download is affected but upload is max speed.

I bet Amodin's comments are on target.  If you don't see anything in the Intrusion Prevention log, it's probably your CPU.  What CPU do you have and how much RAM?

Then again, does ifconfig show packet loss?

I had assumed he had full performance on lan and was only suffering issue on wifi devices.  Lars can you confirm? 

Because if LAN devices also not performing well then an underpowered cpu will have major affect on ips throughput as snort is single threaded and heavily dependant on both high ghz and efficient cpu, though you did mentioned you disabled services which I assume also meant IPS and web filtering.

We're all curious what root cause is at this point.

im working the issue, withouut luck. the problem is only wifi. lan is normal (full speed)

my cpu and ram on utm is normal, 30-40% use. 

what is strange is, if i connect my laptop before utm then i have no problem on wifi out to my isp. so it is the utm problem lies.

i have tried to switch off everything i can think of now. but no luck.

i have began to set up a new server with clean innstall utm. no backup. so this is my next step. 

To add to my comments below - make sure that any access points you have are on their own channels, especially if you have a 2.4 GHz AP.  APs using the same channels will cut your speed down, so assign static channels to each one that is different.  I have my three APs assigned to channels 1, 6 and 11.

Check the area around you using a Wi-Fi analyzer (free smartphone tools) to see what congestion is around you on what channels are being used.
