Emailing of automatic backups has stopped working.

We email our backup via our internal Exchange server to a backup mailbox every evening.

This has been working fine for months but has suddenly stopped (a couple of weeks ago). It had stopped well after applying the latest firmware so nothing to do with that.

Notifications are working fine (e.g. failed logins etc.) so the Exchange server is relaying fine. I checked the Exchange logs and can't see any attempt to send the backup from the UTM.

Here's what shows in the confd.log file when I send a backup via email:

2020:03:16-12:09:04 mus-utm1-1 confd[24660]: I Snapshot::snapshot_get:274() => id="310x" severity="info" sys="System" sub="confd" name="snapshot downloaded" user="admin" srcip="172.30.83.192" facility="webadmin" client="webadmin.plx" call="snapshot_sendnow"

2020:03:16-12:09:04 mus-utm1-1 confd[24660]: [INFO-011] Configuration Backup File

Any suggestions?

  • Interesting, Colin...

    Are the backups in the /var/confd/var/storage/snapshots/ directory?

    Does the following indicate that a backup was sent this morning?

    grep 'Configuration Auto Backup' /var/log/smtp.log

    Cheers - Bob
