Mail server setup in Sophos XG

Dear Experts,

I am bit new to configuring firewall and this is a totally noob question. Please just provide me some tips to get me on my way

I want to setup and test email protection on firewall. I will be using Hmail server (hope this is irrelevant) and Thunderbirds client. This is all LAN setup. There is no internet or MX records involved so far. ( i dont know much about setting up email servers also but successfully configured and tested hmail). Can i still send emails from one client to another and get it scanned by sophos?

Do i need to make sophos my smtp server or something?

    Welcome to the Community!

If your Email Clients and Server are on the same local subnet, it would not be possible.

However, if you can switch your Email server in the DMZ zone, you may try the Transparent Mode (Legacy Mode) and try for POP3 or IMAP scanning for the clients but that may be very limited.
