Sophos up2date skipping several updates

Several months ago we offboarded a client. We only recently recovered the equipment from all of their locations earlier this week.  Among the devices were several Sophos SG firewalls (several models 105s, 115s, one 125 and one 135). I figured rather than completely reinstalling UTM9 from flash drive them I would hook them up and let them update normally and throw them on a shelf of spares. I found something unexpected though with up2date patches.

I thought all Sophos SG updates had to be done in order, but in all cases the revisions reported from up2date jumps from 9.510-5 to 9.605-1 (skipping 9.600005, 9.601005, 9.602003, 9.603001, 9.604002). It is really odd because while the patches downloaded I got the expected numerous emails about updates being available for instllation and expected to see them in the attached image queued up, but instead the portals are only showing this single update for installation. Is there something different about the 9.605001 update? Does it include the rest of the 9.6 updates as a sort of cumulative update or do I need to manually download the intermediary updates and install them by hand?

  • Having followed this issue in many threads here, I can see that the developers decided that the safest way to get anyone onto 9.6 was to jump them from 9.510 to 9.605.Going through the regular Up2Date process with 9.600, 1, 2, 3 & 4 killed RED 50 appliances in many places and cause disruptions with RED 15s.  Indeed, the 9.510-to-9.6000 Up2Date was eliminated.
