Sophos UTM 9.6 wireless question

Hello Everyone,

I have a very important question regarding Sophos UTM 9.6 and internal wifi cards. I have recently purchased a 4 port networking white box appliance from Pondesk recently. It has a Atheros AR5B97 802.11 b/g/n 300mbps WiFi Card pre-installed.

I have managed to install Sophos UTM 9.6 and see the card as an interface. When I try to add the LocalWifi0 to an Access Point group it doesn't show up there and I can't see the SSID.

I was told that Sophos UTM 9.6 has very limited wireless card support but this has detected it but not working. Can anyone guide me what I am doing wrong ? its a dead end and the card is not fully compatible? Please see the screenshots and let me know.

    Hi Maaz,

    Googling site:community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/f "AR5B97" indicates that you are the first person to mention this card in this forum.

    What are you looking at when you say that you see the card as an interface?

    The problem I am running into is the fact that I have setup a wireless network with SSID "sophostest" with the usual settings like WPA2 Personal , 2.4 ghz range, AES secure as algorithm etc. This is bridged to LAN.

    Now in order to have this SSID broadcasted I need to associate it with an Access Point. In my case there is no AP just the wifi atheros card.

    In the wireless protection page it shows the Access Point as "Local Wifi0" (0 clients).

    Now in the Active AP section I get the following:

    Following are the details for the local wifi.

     

    Now in the Grouping section I get the following:

    As per my understanding the SSID is associated with the wifi card but its not broadcasting it. I have checked it on multiple devices (phone, tablet and laptop). I am stuck here.

    Is there anything I am missing ? Please let me know.

    In the interface section I have the following:

    And in the hardware section I can see Sophos (which is my wireless network) which I created in Wireless Protection.
