IP Address Conflict SOPHOS UTM 9

Hi All,

I just have a question regarding to the conflicting I.P Address here in our office, because we put in all information of the laptop to SOPHOS UTM9 including the MAC Address, we obtain the I.P Address by just connecting them to the wifi and get it. But somehow some I.P address has the same I.P address with the other devices. Im quite confused because were just 70 in our company and we still have 200+ I.P available.

Please Help me fix the issue.

Thanks Guys

:)

  • This is a common newbie mistake, Justin.  Unlike DHCP in Windows Server, the concept of "reservation" does not exist in the UTM.  When assigning a fixed IP, it must be outside of the dynamic range for the relevant DHCP server.

  • How can I do that because alot of I.P are conflicting..

  • Here's an example, Justin:

    • DHCP Range: 172.201.100 - 172.20.1.199
    • Assign fixed IPs to permanent devices as follows:
      • Networking devices in 172.20.1.1 - 172.20.0.19
      • Servers in 172.20.1.20 - 172.20.1.49
      • Other permanent devices in 172.20.1.50 - 172.20.1.99
    • Assign fixed IPs to temporary devices in 172.20.1.200 - 172.20.1.249

When you click on [+ Make static], you must assign a different IP as suggested above.  The next time the device requests an IP, it will get the new assignment.  Until then, it will retain the old IP and nothing will change.

Now, you need to go back to the Host definitions with fixed IPs to make sure they have an IP in the groups you've decided on instead of within the dynamic range of the DHCP server.
