Active Directory Bind DN

I am trying to set it up to authenticate the users against Synology Active Directory Server which uses SAMBA. The Sophos box is giving me an error when it attempts to authenticates saying "Error: Server exists and accepts connections, but bind to ldap://X.X.X.X:389 failed with this Bind DN and Password". I am not sure if I am using the correct Bind DN but since I can't find a log in the Synology box I have no clue what the Sophos UTM is pushing over the network.

I ran dsquery and got what I believe is all the Bind information needed and tried that but still no luck.

Any help would be appreciated!

Does your Samba server have SMBv2 impkemented and enabled? SMBv1 has security issues. I think it is off by default on new installations. Details should be available by searching this site.

Thanks for your reply. I have sent your response to Synology who is over the the Samba Server I am using. I asked the questions to them. Although I need to read up on the security issues and evaluate if enabling SMBv1 is worth the security risks. Do you have any insight on the security concerns of v1?

You might want to get a ticket open with Sophos Support to see if the UTM supports anything newer than SMBv1. Please let us know what you learn.

You might want to get a ticket open with Sophos Support to see if the UTM supports anything newer than SMBv1. Please let us know what you learn.

I thought the UTM no longer depends on SMBv1?
