Quando si risponde a una e-mail crittografata SPX, un destinatario dovrebbe anche avere un UTM con SPX configurato per la sua risposta da crittografare.

  • No, SPX can be used with anyone.

The PDF file has a reply button inside it.   The button links the recipient to a website on your UTM where the reply message can be written and sent.

If the recipient also has SPX encryption, it could be used to write a new message, but it would not be considered a reply message.

Limitations of SPX to consider in your planning process:

    • Any file-based encryption system is vulnerable to persistent password-guessing attacks, since a file cannot implement break-in evasion.  You still want to use TLS for message transport, to reduce the risk of the file falling into the wrong hands.

    • Password management becomes critical for the recipient.   If the password is lost, the password cannot be recovered and the file becomes unusable (except to that persistent attacker).  Password management is less of a problem if SPX is used is used to send secure attachments, and the attachment is exported from the PDF upon receipt.

    • Receiving system spam filters may refuse to accept encrypted content, including SPX.  If this occurs, you will either need to negotiate for an exception or use another technique.
