HTML5 VPN Portal - Dynamic RDP Host

Hi,

I'm are currently reviewing our remote access policies & hardware.

In the past when we looked at the Sophos UTM HTML5 VPN Portal, it would only allow you to connect to statically defined RDP hosts.
I'm wondering if this is still the case? Or can it connect to something dynamic, e.g. an attribute pulled from the AD like the username of the user thats logged in.

Thanks

Peter

  • I have seen no feature changes for HTML5 VPN to RDP.

  • Hallo Peter - your first post here - welcome to the UTM Community!

The best use of the HTML5 remote access method is for allowing an external service provider to gain access to a specific device.  It is a very resource-intensive method, so if you will ever want to have more than one person connecting at a time or to allow a person to access multiple devices, the SSL VPN method is your best bet.

    Cheers - Bob

  • fully agree with Bob. HTML5 Portal was never build to replace any kind of SSL / IPsec RAS.

It has his limitation regarding setup and performance.
