Question about migrating UTM120 to SG125, and UTM320 to SG330

Hi

I would like to know if I can use the backup/restore option in the UTM120 and UTM320 to migrate to SG125 and SG330 ?

Would the users, the network config, the VPN setup etc be restored correctly in the new appliances ?

    Salut Pierre-Alexandre and welcome to the UTM Community!

    Yes, that is correct.  Here's the prescription I put together for a client:

    1. If needed, do a quick, temporary install so that the new device can download Up2Dates.
    2. Apply the desired Up2Dates (if possible, stop at 9.509 today) and do a factory reset.
    3. On the current UTM in use, on the 'Hardware' tab of 'Interfaces', assign the MAC as the Virtual MAC for the NICs in use.
    4. Create a backup and load it onto a USB memory stick.
    5. Reboot the new device with the USB memory stick in place and remove the memory stick after the boot is complete.
    6. Connect a PC to the new device, upload the license for the new device and then disconnect the PC, leaving the new device powered up.
    7. Power down the old device and move the cables to the new device.  Done.

    Will this have an impact on production ?

     

    Should I do an ARP cache reset afterward?

    Aucun impact, PA.  This step avoids having to reset the ARP caches on directly-connected switches and routers and is invisible because there's no change in the MAC addresses.  It's why the time to move from one device to the other just takes the time to move the Ethernet cables from the old device to the new.
