Is it worth upgrading UTM9.5 to XG

Hi,

we are currently discussing about migrating our Sophos UTM 9.5 to Sophos XG v17 Firewall.

So could you recommend upgrading to XG under following demands on the Firewall?

  1. Good filtering of malicious Websites
  2. Good indentification of application (we are not going to provide Sophos endpoint)
  3. Good detection rate of viruses of the Webfiltering Feature
  4. Good Content filtering
  5. Good firewalling Options
  6. Security of the Firewall System itself (e.g. vulnerabilities in the UTM or XG Software)

Thank you in advance for your opinions and your help!

Regards:

Dwayne

  • Hi,

you should do a requirement profile first.

Not all features in UTM are there in XG (like email encryption).

And you should try to understand the appliance first, because it is another approach to build firewall policy's.

Would recommend to build up a test appliance in your test environment.

If you have a HA, you can lately break the HA and migrate on of this appliances to SFOS. So you can do a smooth migration and migrate every module alone.

    Cheers
