Update 8.000: Release and Download Information

Hi everyone. As Frank has mentioned, the 8.000 release up2date posted will bring you to our shortly-to-be-released official GA version (the final iteration). All of us here would like to thank you - it's been a great 8 months of planning, development, and testing during both the closed and open V8 betas. We'll be closely examining any open or unresolved reports and prioritizing them for future 8.00x versions and beyond, rest assured nothing is simply forgotten, it has all been recorded and tracked internally.

We will be retiring this forum soon, please direct all posts regarding V8 to the appropriate sections in the main forums. We need a little while to gather some feedback and final numbers from the various Astaro people who were tasked with the V8 beta management, and then we will identify the top contributors and post the results in the general forums indicating the beta prizes and other details. I will also post final licensing details for home users in the main licensing forum, so check there during the next days. It will be in plenty of time before your Beta key expires.

As this beta officially now draws to a close, so will posts for "points" at this time. I would like to finish by saying your feedback was fantastic, we appreciate all the time everyone took, especially if you got bit in any way by "beta" stuff [:)] 

See you all very soon, work is already beginning on 8.100 and we'll have a new forums and place for you to do it again. Hope to see you there!

Is the u2d-sys-8.000.tgz.gpg package only for 7.951-->8 or can it also be used to update from 7.505-->8?  Seems too small for the later, but I wanted to confirm.

Its only for the beta 7.951 and up. We won't have an up2date package from 7.x to 8 at all; appliances will be able to "migrate" in mid august with a button push, but hardware cannot be 100% guaranteed on software installations, so for those you must re-install / restore a backup. This will all be outlined in the next hour or less via up2date.astaro.com as well, and the release notes.

ISOs and V8 VMWare images are/were available at ftp://ftp.astaro.com/pub/ASG/v8/, but you may want to wait a little bit as it looks like some of the the software images are being reuploaded right now.
