Possible Issue with opening SURF 2.0.0120

Hi,

I have some reports of new installations of SURF 2.0.0120 failing to launch when clicking on the EXE. The program fails without any visual indication.

If you encounter this, please check C:\ProgramData\Sophos

There should be a folder here called SURF, if it doesn't exist, create it.
Then inside the SURF folder create the following folders if they don't exist:
  • Databases
  • Extracted
  • Monitored
  • Logs
  • Rules
This should resolve the issue.
I will have this fixed in the next release of SURF.

  • @Sophos Hi of November 2022 the latest version still doesn't work. Spent a couple of weeks messing around with it and then tried contacting sophos and got sent here instead of someone from support actually helping i was just sent to a user forum!

FWIW the latest installer despite saying its 2.1.0930.0 on the installer the .exe still SURF 2.0.0120 so i put it to you that the update hasn't actually made it into the release version.

In my case this seems to have worked, but this needs fixing permanently especially whilst you are pushing your architgects/engineers to use the tool in your latest training.
