Single SSID Meshed Wireless Network Across Multiple Sites

Hi all,

I'm in the process of evaluating what WAP's to use for a wireless network deployment.

The deployment involves multiple sites and buildings.

Our objective is to deploy a single SSID, meshed wireless network that will be inter-connected via VPN back to a central location. A XG-210 firewall device would be installed at the central location and be used to manage the WAP's.

If we deploy AP55C WAP's, would we be able to achieve our objective or would we require a UTM/XG firewall device deployed at each site in order to get the meshing to work correctly.

Regards,

Darryl

  • Hi,

does this picture resemble what you want to build?

Basically having a central XG/SG in one location and WAPs in multiple sites managed by the central firewall works fine, we have multiple customers using it like that.

I'm not aware of any installation using this with Mesh. Basically XG/SG allow to define multiple mesh networks as well as multiple APs as mesh root APs. So you can define one AP as mesh root in every site. Your SSID can then be configured to run on every AP.

    I hope that helps.

    Kind regards,
