SSL VPN with AES-GCM and it works well, in my limited use

Spent three weeks in Central America SSL VPN'ing back to an XGS87 in the US that was running v19 EAP1. Not a heavy-duty test, but an EAP worked reliably for weeks, 8-10 hours a day with no hiccups. Managed the XGS via Sophos Central. Used OpenVPN client for MacOS. Configured to use AES-GCM (new in v19, I think).

  • SSLVPN is indeed working very well on v19.

Not only OpenVPN has been updated, but now It also supports TLS 1.3.

Even on a small appliance such as the XG115w, I'm still able to get constant 120Mbit/s with It. (On a single client, with AES-GCM.)

  • Yes, I forgot about TLS 1.3, which I've gladly switched over to.

It looks like we'll soon be getting a viable second ISP, so some of the SD-WAN stuff is also becoming more interesting. I'm using SD_WAN right now just so I can monitor jitter, etc, but with a second ISP, some interesting things can happen.
