Linked NAT rule for LAN to LAN traffic?

Hello all,

I have inherited a firewall that has linked NAT rules for LAN to LAN type rules. Is there any need for them (I don't think so as really only required for LAN to WAN), and would it hurt anything if I just left the NAT rules?

Depends if the same IP address range is in use on both segments otherwise no. Ian

Hello Mark,

As an additional to Ian's comment above, before making any changes/deletion on the NAT rule you might want to review the usage counter and review if there are still connections using the NAT rule

You can reset this to 0 and from there monitor for a certain duration and then make a decision to delete or not.

Hi Raphael,

the traffic between LANs will always go through the linked NAT, so counting the traffic only proves the firewall rule is still in use.
