Licensed XG 125w rev 3 Issues and replacement timing advise

I've got a XG 125w rev 3 in production, that's licensed until 1/3/2025. I expected to replace it sometime in December but I've been seeing some rather odd behavior from it in the last 3 days.

-The web gui from the LAN and from Central is even slower than normal
-SSL VPN remote access connections had been stable until this week, constant "received connection reset from gateway" errors
-IPSec client vpn is fairly stable aside sporadic dropped packets (5-10 at a time).

I haven't changed any settings and have been on v20.1 for a while now. The issues do seem to increase as employees arrive on site. To cover all the bases, I ran smartctl -x /dev/sda and although no errors were reported Percentage Used Endurance Indicator was 94 so maybe that's what's causing the issues?

Last, has Sophos given any hint as to when the new devices will be released? They seem to be on a 3 year cycle and the XGS 126w was released in 2021. If I'm right, should I white knuckle it or throw cash at the problem and just get the XGS 126w?

Thanks for any and all help!

  • Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to Sophos Community.

I recommend creating a case with Sophos Support(CC for License) to have this further checked and share the case ID here. You can also check the following.

Check your ISP Connection; you can do a probing directly with your ISP and then compare.

    For the firewall:

-The web gui from the LAN and from Central is even slower than normal

    • Check the utilization, process and logs( csc, applog)

-SSL VPN remote access connections had been stable until this week, constant "received connection reset from gateway" errors
-IPSec client vpn is fairly stable aside sporadic dropped packets (5-10 at a time).

    • I would recommend checking the logs/debugging,packet capture,drppacket.
