sophos RED VPN goes down

Thanks for reaching out to Sophos Community. 

Does both setup have the same issue? 

In Standard/Unified this should be the expected behavior - If the RED loses contact with Sophos Firewall and the tunnel fails, the RED stops routing traffic. Remote LAN users lose access to the internet and the firewall's internal networks until the tunnel can reconnect.

In Standard/Split - If tunnel goes down, users on the branch should still have internet access.

How frequent the disconnects happens? Also, are there any changes in the configuration/s prior this issue? Could you also share your RED configuration. On the other hand, In Standard/Split, only traffic to specified networks is sent to the Firewall. All other traffic is sent directly to the Internet. Hence, if connection to HQ goes down, internet on remote side should still work. 

Kindly check, if internet connected directly on RED has no fluctuation from the ISP end, and also you can check the system.log, red.log during the time frame when the issue occurred.
