Large/Big download blocked after some seconds

Hello, 

I have a firewall XG330 in my organization since 2–3 years. 

Since 1 month, we encounter some issues with the download of large files by FTP (our partners aren't allowed to send us big files, no matter the ftp server or the disk space available). This issue seems to be linked to large file (more than 5-10gb). 

To bypass this issue, we've asked our partner to send us these files by WeTransfer, and the issue is the same; after some minutes the download is interrupted. I don't see anything very accurate in the logs for that, but my ISP tell me that it can't be from them and the issue is linked to my FW. 

Can someone please help me if you've any idea? I already checked in application list and WeTransfer is authorized. 

I tried to add WeTransfer domains in exception for web security according to the domains that WeTransfer give in their website. 

I don't find the link between WeTransfer (wan) and ftp server (who are in our DMZ). 

Any help will be appreciated, I'm lost now.

    I'm sorry you have faced this inconvenience.

    Few queries:

    -Does the the issue is same with all the users or isolated cases only?

    -Kindly share a screenshot of the encountered error when the download stops

    -Does plain source based rule on the top without web and application filter and IPS set to none and using FQDN of designated FTP server/WeTransfer e.g (*.example.domain.com.) as Destination?

  • Hello Raphael, thanks for your answer! 

    In the order, here are my responses: 

    - The issue is the same with i think all users ( at least 15 users with different configurations ) 

    - The only error is that for the wetransfer, smash, swisstransfer fails 

    - We don't have any web filter activate, and we have a rule for the ftp taht allow all the ftp transfer from wan to our server. 3 weeks ago all was the same and it was working. 

    Yesterday i do the last update on our sophos stuff (SFOS 19.5.1 MR-1-Build278) and the issue is still here.. 

    I tried with another OS ( we are on windows 11 ) and the issue is the same, already tried too with windows defender deactivate..

    Would it be possible to share the following?

    • Any logs from the log viewer when the download stops?
    • Check the FW policy if the " Scan FTP for malware" is turned on
