Adding a device is not possible

Good day,

I have a trail licence now because I just want to test the system and see if the MDM works for us but I am unable to add an android device or manage it.

1- I have added a Group policy (Android Enterprise device policy) under

Policies > Android

2- Under "Task bundles" > "Android" I have also created a task "Enroll" then I choose "Full device" and choosen the Policy that it was created in the previous step.

Now I am trying to add a device from device wizard but I do not see any tasks that I can choose and then I cannot add a device.

I get these options shown

Enroll device with task bundle

Enroll Sophos container with task bundle

Enroll Sophos container with policy

Enroll Sophos Intercept X for Mobile with task bundle

Enroll Sophos Intercept X for Mobile with policy

Can anyone please help me? I would like to test the system before the 30 days are over.

Many thanks,

Bero

  • Hello bero,

Thank you for reaching out to the Sophos Community.

It sounds like the Task Bundle and Policy have been set up correctly.

If you select "Enroll device with task bundle" are you able to select the Task Bundle created with the "Android Enterprise" policy?

  • Good morning,

thanks for the answer. Unfortunatley I am not getting any Task bundles shown. I click on "Skip user assignment" for the first step and for the next step it doesnt matter which "Select the enrollment type" I choose, not Task bundles will be avialable.

    Many thanks.
    Bero

  • If you select to skip user assignment, the enrollment options available to you will be restricted. When attempting this on my side, I am only able to see the "Device Management" related policies. Device management is a depreciated form of MDM that will not work with devices running Android 10 or higher.

If you wish to enroll the devices using "Android Enterprise" management, you’ll need to specify a user to be assigned to the device.
