SMC not installed anymore, yet working

Hi,

this morning, i checked our SMC server because mails werent synced anymore. When i tried to access via website, i got the "Server is starting", and on the server itself, the services were all running. A reboot helped. After this, mailflow was active again.

But i went through logs and discovered that SMC appears to not be installed anymore. List of installed programs doesnt show any software from Sophos anymore! Furthermore, i wasnt able to find the configuration wizard (or the certificate wizard as well) anymore in the Sophos Mobile Control folder, nor in the start menu.

Still, SMC does work like a charm, i can also add new devices... We still run 8.5.4, i will try to install an update, but wanted to ask here before, thanks in advance!

It seems weird that after a reboot the Sophos components were uninstalled. Did it happen with other software as well?

Hi Yashraj,

i do not know when the Sophos components were uninstalled as i didnt check appwiz.cpl before the reboot, i assume that this problem occured before already.

Hi Julian84

It is strange that even though it is not installed, Sophos mobile services are working for you. I believe we are missing something here. I would recommend you to open a support case with us to get this issue investigated: https://secure2.sophos.com/en-us/support/open-a-support-case.aspx
