We started experiencing file attachment issues with web-apps and Outlook 2013. We haven't changed any of our Sophos settings. Dragging and dropping the file into a new email or into the web app does not cause issues, but when using the browser window the application will just freeze and we have to use the task manager to kill it. Disabling Data Loss Prevention for the sub-estate having the issue fixed the problem, and we don't have anything actively set up for DLP anyway so this will work for now. Has anyone else experienced this and know of a fix? We may be using the DLP feature in the future and we do not want it disabled if we do end up using it.
DLP has also been turned off under the web control policy.
This is a known bug that is fixed in the next release which should be going out soon.
(+) Realtime protection seems to cause Outlook crash - Discussions - Intercept X Endpoint - Sophos Community has some info.
Rather than disabling DLP, you can exclude:\\[servername]\PIPE\srvsvc
Where "servername" would need to be the servers that Outlook process is accessing over UNC. I suspect file servers where the users store their docuemnts.
When is soon?
Is there a release date or version to confirm users have this bug fix so we don't have to make a regex exclusion? Thanks
As mentioned in the other post, 2022.1.x and later should have the fix. You may need to contact Support to get your Central tenant ID moved to that version as it is in the process of being rolled out.
