PureMessage on Ex2013 fails to start (service), failes to update, fails to have mails delivered

Hi there.

Went home yesterday and everything was fine. This morning, no Emails are being delivered to our clients. Looking at the Exchange 2013 with PureMessage, the following can be seen:

- PureMessage Service won't start. It is in limbo, Windows tries to start it for hours now. Can't manually, stop/restart whatever.

- PureMessage fails to update. ESC update log shows error 0x80070422 for PureMessage or sometimes 0x800706ba (sadly, the knowledge base does not contain much on it).

I don't really know where to start.

  • I temporarily got Emails working: Set PureMessage service to disabled, stopped MSExchange Transport Service. This would end the endless service start of PureMessage. Emails have been delivered to users, but guess they have not been scanned by PureMessage. At least this takes a bit of pressure off.

Support Case was opened, currently providing my SDU logs to them.

  • Finally, support assisted in uninstalling the whole PME manually and install a fresh copy. Couldn't figure out a way to fix the issue.
