500 Internal Server Error

Hello everybody,

I have installed Sophos UTM Manager 4 under in a Virtual Machine.

I am trying to access webadmin but all i am getting is:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at admin to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I would to ask for your help to see which logs should i see to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance

Best Regards,

  • As this is a new VM, first try a reboot. If that doesn't get it, a reinstall. Significantly faster than the troubleshooting route. If those don't get it, we can go from there.

  • Hi, Ferdinand, and welcome to the UTM Community!

Is this is a new device?  Is this a Sophos hardware appliance?

  • Hi Bob,

    Good day,

No, it's a OLD box. UTM 425 series.

as per client they have a electric malfunction and after that the utm rebooted.

Once they access the webadmin error occur. "internal server error".

  • OK, I would get a ticket open with Sophos Support  as the 425 may have been fried by the electrical malfunction.  While waiting for Sophos to respond, try a reboot of the 425 - that may fix the problem.  If not, Sophos may tell them that they need to get some recent configuration backups so they can re-image from ISO and restore a backup.

If they don't have any backups, can they login as root on the console?

    Cheers - Bob

This isn't the venue to contact Sophos Support officially.  If you have a paid license, ask your reseller for help with Sophos Support.

In any case, this sounds like a hardware error.  If powering the unit down for 10 minutes doesn't let it boot, then you might try reloading the software from ISO.  I fear that you will need to replace the hardware.  Good luck and lets us know your results!

    Cheers - Bob
