XG-85 Doesn't support UTM 9?

We received a few units to test out at our office and it appears that the XG 85 doesn't support UTM 9? Without a video connection I am unable to actually see what is going on but it appears to get to the install screen and stops. If you press a key on a keyboard it will reboot and try again.

Does the newest release of UTM 9 not support the XG 85? I know it works fine on the XG 125.

I'm just trying to get a good baseline of what is supported.

I spoke with our Contact at Sophos and was able to figure out the process. I will update tomorrow if everything works.

As I knew, XG85 and XG750 will be supported with UTM 9.4.
Anyway this thread should be moved to UTM area.

Will the eMMC storage drive show up/be detected by the UTM installer? That might be why, plus it's only 8GB which means logging capability will be down to the bare metal unless you offload the logging.

Thank you for moving this.

I figured the eMMC would be causing an issue so I even attached a SATA HDD to the system (it has a sata port) and was unable to get it to install to that also so its not a storage issue. As stated it should be 100% support in 9.4 and I will test this other solution I have received tonight.

As for logging the unit is mainly for very small businesses so I am not really concerned about long term logging even if I could get a week of logging I would be happy.

Great stuff! Just remember to change the logging settings in Logging & Reporting to not shut down and/or delete oldest log files. I think it's default on 95% to just shutdown the unit.

Am I correct that you can install UTM 9 software on XG hardware?

I hadn't found an answer up until this thread.

XG85w or XG105w are what I'm looking at for a RED replacement.

Partly correct... The XG85 is not supported at this time but the 105 is. If you're buying brand new hardware the SG series has UTM 9 already installed.

I've used the SG105 with Network Protection only as a substitute for a RED. If you want other subscriptions in addition, use the 115 in small offices.

So is there any hardware difference between SG and XG appliances?

I'd be replacing a RED 50 with the aim of web protecting 30 users and a tunnel home. We have 3 wireless points attached to the RED we'd still want to use. Would a 105w cut it and what subscriptions would be needed? How about SG85w?
