Can you force the Protect Computers wizard to use the FQDN

I'm in a multi domain environment. DNS is always slow to update. I've a group of machines that I need to protect. I can't ping by netbios name but can when using the fqdn. is there any way to force the wizard to attempt to use the fqdn instead?I want to avoid editing a host file if I can.

Thanks

  • The Sophos Management Service (mgntsvc.exe) does have this key:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\[wow6432node]\Sophos\EE\Management Tools\UseDNSNameForBootstrap

I've not used it but I assume it's a DWORD called UseDNSNameForBootstrap (set to 1) created under HKLM\SOFTWARE\[wow6432node]\Sophos\EE\Management Tools\

That said, you could also look into DNS suffix on the adapter.
