How to enable disk encryption on clients with Endpoint Security Console?

I don't see an option for disk encryption ( I am using the trial, but this should have all features, right? ) I am seeing various policies but no mentioning about disk encryption. Please advise. Thanks! Christian

  • Hello Christian,

I'm not sure whether there is now a trial version of the installer (the regular sec_531_sfx.exe is about 405MB). Encryption is usually set up during install (the installer prompts you) but the Policies pane should show all features, whether selected/installed/licensed or not - could you post a screenshot?

Anyway, the bundled SDE version 5.61 supports only Windows 7 and will AFAIK be retired end of Q1 2016.

  • Hi, I installed the sec_530_sfx.exe and also setup encryption. Bit I don't see device encryption in the policy pane (see sreenshot).

  • Hello Christian,

    I [...] setup encryption
you did select the encryption component during install? As said in my previous post SEC used to show all policies - but maybe FDE gets special treatment with SEC 5.3+. If you view the Recommended subscription (Update managers view, Software subscriptions pane) it'll show you whether the trial license actually contains encryption (it's a platform, Encryption Products). Again, FDE is about to be retired anyway and doesn't support Windows 8.1 and above.
