Assign Linux client to a particular group in Enterprise Console via installation command/script

Hi,

We are installing the Linux Endpoint client using the installer.sh script in savlinux.

All installs are placed in the 'Unassigned' group in the Sophos EC.

How can we specify which Group to place the client during the installation via command-line?

Or is there a server-side setting we can configure to dump clients into a certain group by default?

Hi David,

Have a read at our Startup Guide: Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux startup guide

Page 17 shows you what switch to use so you can specify the group computers will be added to in SEC.

Hi Karlos,

We have tried creating an RPM package but it does not install correctly.

Can you confirm that the correct flags are set below?

./mkinstpkg -r --sec-group=ProjectHosts

This command gives the license, and we set the default installation path, update source (http://a2adm2:8080/SourceUpdates) and anonymous access.

It generates a 4MB .rpm file but it doesn't install the client on any Linux servers that both resolve the update source name (a2adm2) and have network access to it over tcp/8080.

Can you give suggestions on next steps?

does your SourceUpdates path map the savlinux directory or the update share?

Hi QC,

The SourceUpdates path maps to the update share (\\a2adm2\SophosUpdate).

Should it be pointed to the parent directory of savlinux, or savlinux itself (\\a2adm2\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\savlinux)?

Hello David,

the updater, that is also responsible for the initial install, expects the savlinux (name doesn't matter, the contents do).
