Failed to install Antivirus

The error I got - - Product: Sophos AutoUpdate -- Error 25001. A more recent version of Sophos AutoUpdate was found. Uninstall it using Add/Remove programs.

1. No Sophos products listed in Add/Remove programs

2. Searched and Removed anything with Sophos from the Registry

3. Sophos folders were deleted from file system as well

Still no joy to install Sophos Antivirus, can someone please help?

Regards

Kevin Zhang

  • Hello Kevin,

you received the 25001 the very first time you tried to install Sophos by running setup.exe from the CID, or what else did you do?

  • Things I did - Searched and Removed anything with Sophos from the Registry; Deleted Sophos folders from file system as well.

The setup still believes that I have a recent version of Sophos Auto Update installed, any idea?

  • Hello Kevin,

no, not what you did to get rid of it. How did you install, and did you get the 25001 on your first attempt to install or a subsequent one. If the latter, was the first install successful, when did you try to reinstall (and why)?

  • There was one but not working - services can't be started, then I tried to uninstall it from Add/Remove programs but no success so I decided to clean up registry and file system.

Sophos should have a utility to manually remove its products from system if Uninstall is not an option.
