Network Threat Protection is blocking VPN Client

Hi all,

we are using Sophos Central Intercept X Advanced on our client PCs and laptops.

When laptop users are not on site they connect via vpn client "ShrewSoft". However, the Sophos Network Threat Protection is blocking the connection. If I temporarily disable NTP, it works well.

I tried to set some exceptions in Central regarding the VPN software, for example I completely excluded the C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\ folder from real time scans. But without success.

Can someone please tell me how to set up the correct exceptions so NTP isnt blocking anymore?

Thanks in advance!!

  • A few different scanning components will be affected when disabling Network Threat Protection from the local policy override. I recommend trying to turn off the following items one at a time from Sophos Central to find out if one of them is the main culprit for the issues you've been experiencing.

    • Web Control (Web Control policy)
    • Scan downloads in progress (Threat Protection policy)
    • Block access to malicious websites (Threat Protection policy)
