We have been using Sophos intercept x advanced with MTR for about 6 weeks. Since then, our bandwidth has dropped 90%. We use a gigabit internet connection and have previously achieved the following values in a speed test in the browser: Down: 900MB/s Up: 800MB/s
Now, if we're lucky, we'll get Down: 60MB/s Up: 300MB/s.
We found out that it is due to the following settings:
If these settings are deactivated, we have full bandwidth when surfing again. But we don't want to leave them disabled.
This is not a condition, the support from Sophos is not getting anywhere either. We expected more...here are the screenshots from the speedtest:deactivated settings:activated settings:
I’m not suggesting that. Just trying to narrow down the specific feature within the NTP component. I think this is one for Support/Dev.
Can confirm our users experience the same bandwidth issues when running Sophos Web Protection.
400-700Mbps with Sophos Disabled, ~70Mbps with Sophos enabled. This is obviously affecting a massive amount of users. When can we expect a fix?
A test-build driver has been made available. I suggest reaching out to Sophos Support via a Support Case to ask for this, as our teams are looking for feedback from customers on the efficacy of the driver.
The main changes applied will be to improve on slow download speeds experienced by some customers, this may not be directly evident when running a "speedtest" as the speedtest does not use legitimate files to perform the test, but instead uses scripting to time the download of files.
Further work is continuing to better handle speedtests as well as latency when browsing websites.
What is your Solution for Windows Servers?
The same test-build is applicable to both Server and Endpoint OS'.
Depending on the specific issue you're experiencing in your environment, different logging requirements may be present. The best way to stay up to date on our development team's progress would be to work with Sophos Support to get your case escalated and associated with one of the ongoing development tickets. This way you can get feedback directly from our L3 team.
We are indeed seeing this issue as well -- across multiple servers & workstations alike for our MSP. This is becoming more of a problem for our clients with Sophos installed. I understand this was supposed to be a "feature" but can we get a global rollback of this feature to the previous version that didn't implement this "feature"?
While it's unlikely for this to happen, I suggest reaching out to your Sophos Account Manager to inquire about this as a potential feature request. I can see an existing submission is present, requesting to allow customers to do rollbacks on a per-customer basis. Adding your vote will increase the visibility and likelihood for such a feature to be implemented.
Logged a ticket. support wants me to test on clean OS, speed test, then install Sophos, speed test, then Wireshark and speed test. How can we get full speed back? I have 10 computers that need to download about 700Gb from dropbox each night to process. C
the only way i was able to get my speed back was by disabling network threat protection in the end point. this is not a solution but a work around until a fix is released. network threat protection will re-enable on its own after 4 hrs.
Do you have an internal reference number for this fix to test
Not doing that every 4 hours. Already 4 days behind. Have 1.8TB in dropbox to process and downloading at 800k per sec on a 1Gbit connection. Not happy. we just did a renewal for 12 months at over $100k
same here, not happy at all. We are moving away from this product for end point protection. I've been dealing with this for the past 3 months and I get no where with support. there only reply was for me to try installing a driver and let them know if it resolves the issue. We didn't purchase this product to become a product tester. they need to find a permanent fix and release to the public.
I have reached out to you via PM to share details on this.
