Migration Sophos Enterprise Console 5.50 to Sophos Central Cloud

Hello All ,

Need suggestion

We are panning to migrate Sophos Enterprise console 5.5.0 to Sophos Central cloud. Our setup is 2 data centers on different location total 1000 Servers. All client machine don't have internet connectivity.

In terms of Sophos Setup : Its a standalone Server Sophos enterprise Console 5.5.0. Clients are above 2008 servers except few 2003 servers.

I need a suggestion:

What is the best approach?

How the diagram will be? how client machine will connect to Sophos Central? If possible please share via diagram.

I heard about security Vm what is this?

  • HI

Security VM concept is different than message relay and update cache. Security VM doesn't work like message relay and update cache.

Security VM concept is just for VMware machines (VM machines) which run on ESXi host.

As you have mix setup of the machine with VMs, physical, OVM environment, go with message relay and update cache and install the Server protection on all the machines.

It will provide you with more security feature like Cryptoguard which protects against Ransomware, if you have a license of Intercept X with server protection.

  • As you have mix setup of the machine with VMs, physical, OVM environment, go with message relay and update cache and install the Server protection on all the machines : Currently also Sophos Protection installed on our client machine. But they connect Sophos Enterprise Console.

It will provide you with more security feature like Cryptoguard which protects against Ransomware, if you have a license of Intercept X with server protection : This feature is on Cache & message relay only. Right? not on Security VM. Do you have an any article in which explained difference between both of them Server protection & Sophos endpoint .... If we go with Server protection /or Sophos Endpoint ..How the diagram in background.

Does "Server Protection " and "Sophos Endpoint " have exactly the same functionality? What is the advantage of using one or the other? On what cases we need to go with Sophos protection & what cases on Sophos Endpoint.

  • Hi

I'd suggest you contact Sophos reseller or Sophos partner near you by locating them through this article.

Sophos partner will explain to you in detail the difference between features provided by Security VM and Message relay and update cache.
