Can't get Sophos installer to run through Rosetta

  • Observed behavior (What it did or didn’t do): Sophos installs, but the application is still running as Intel. Per the testing article (https://community.sophos.com/intercept-x-endpoint/big-sur-eap/f/recommended-reads/124246/how-to-confirm-the-endpoint-is-protected), the EICAR file is not detected, and the agent reports not having full disk access even though the extension is enabled in Security and Privacy settings.
    • How do we reproduce it (Provide instructions to help us reproduce the behavior): Install Sophos Endpoint Agent on a Big Sur M1 Mac. Does it prompt you to install Rosetta? If Rosetta is already installed, is there a checkbox for the app to run through Rosetta?
    • Frequency (How often this occurs):
      • Happens every time
    • Desired behavior:(How is it expected to or should behave): The Sophos installer should run through Rosetta
    • Environment (what hardware/software are you using):
      • nothing of note
    • Other (Any other detail that we need to know about): No
    • Supporting logs, tool output, etc.
    Parents
    • Have you installed any other Intel-only apps that use Rosetta 2 yet? If you have, you won't see any prompt to use Rosetta since it's done automatically at that point. If you haven't, you may need to do that.

      Also of note: Apps that are translated via Rosetta 2 won't indicate they're translated anywhere (i.e. the architecture will just say Intel) in "Get Info" and on Activity Monitor.

    • Have you installed any other Intel-only apps that use Rosetta 2 yet? If you have, you won't see any prompt to use Rosetta since it's done automatically at that point. If you haven't, you may need to do that.
