Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition (Non Cloud) Update Failed To Download Update

Hi,

I'm running the free Sophos Anti-Virus for mac Home Editon (classic, not cloud) and for the last few days my machine has been unable to download updates. I've tried it on two of my Macs, one running OSx 10.10.5 and the other running OSx 10.11.6.

The error I get is

com.sophos.autoupdate: Error: Failed to download packages at 01:40:28 19 January 2017
com.sophos.autoupdate: Error: Could not contact primary server at 01:40 on 19 January 2017
com.sophos.autoupdate: URL is invalid

Is the classic edition no longer being supported?

Have you tried forcing a manual update ("Update Now" in the Sophos menu in the menu bar)?

Yes, I get the same failed to contact update server error.

In Sophos Preferences>AutoUpdate, do you have Use Secondary location checked? I'm using version 9.5.4 and both manual and auto updates are working.

Hi ZRL1,

I'm not using a secondary definition server.

I had some time to do some digging this am, and it looks like my router is giving Time To Live Errors when accessing downloads.sophos.com, and if I try to ping that server, I get a Time To Live Exceeded error.

Something going on with their servers?
