Sophos suddenly not running

Have never had any problems until now. Suddenly I start my iMac (10.7.5) and I get a msg that Sophos isn't running. The menu bar icon is greay with an X in it. I have reviewed all the preferences, see nothing that I changed. Says the on-access scanner is not running, everything is grayed out. If I run a scan it takes about a half a second. What could suddenly cause thi s and why can't I seem to fix it?

  • UPDATE: The problem must have been something they screwed up in an update. I booted up this morning and noticed the menu bar icon now has the 'S'  instead of an X' in it. Must have had an auto-download last night that at least partially fixed the problem. Still get a msg that the on-access scan doesn't work, but I can now run a full scan which is happening as I write this.
