Cannot install SAV 9.2.2 (in Yosemite), cannot uninstall SAV 8.0.23 in Mavericks

I recently upgraded Mavericks to Yosemite.

I downloaded SAV Home Edition but installer fails with "cannot install due to incompatible software" -- which I presume refers to the previous SAV 8.0.23 installed under Mavericks.

I cannot find a Sophos Uninstaller for SAV 8.0.23, even when I searched inside the Sophos.app directory. Also there is no "Remove Sophos ...app" in the Application folder.

How can I uninstall the old SAV 8.0.23 ?                   I had to use "Force Quit" to Quit SAV 8.0.23... There was no Quit option.

Thanks for any help.

  • Hello thanks for the information. So far this hasnt worked for me. I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 on a MAC destop and trying to get SOPHOS working again after a reinstall of my system.  I can't uninstall the existing SOPHOS 9.2.2 using either the uninstall tool (tells me that the software is not installed) or the Terminal instructions (see below). If I try to simply install the downloaded version of SOPHOS, it gives me the message that I cannot install until the existing program is removed, but when trying to remove, it tells me that SOPHOS is not installed.  RIght now I am stuck so any help is greatly appreciated.

    pMAC:~ MainFolder$ cd /Library/Application\ Support/Sophos/opm/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/tools/
-bash: cd: /Library/Application Support/Sophos/opm/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/tools/: No such file or directory
    gpMAC:~ MainFolder$ cd /Library/Application\ Support/Sophos/opm-sa/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS
-bash: cd: /Library/Application Support/Sophos/opm-sa/Installer.app/Contents/MacOS: No such file or directory
    gpMAC:~ MainFolder$ sudo ./InstallationDeployer --remove

    Password:
    sudo: ./InstallationDeployer: command not found
