Installing Sophos Home, free trial edition

Please help me install Sophos Home, free trial edition on my iMac using version 10.15.4. I go through the steps but get an "Action Required" alert saying I need to change my "Security and Privacy" settings. Then I go through those step including Open Full Access. There, Sophos Home and SophosServiceManager are checked. Yet I continue to get a pop-up telling me that action is required to change the Security and Privacy settings. I want to trash and start all over again, but I can't even do that. Help! Thanks much.

  • Thank you for your assistance, Intrusus. I now have the following Sophos components added to my Full Disk Access and all are checked: Home, Service Manager, Agent, Scan Agent, Scan D, Clean D, Update, Diagnostic Utility, Config D, Uprade, Generics Core (x3), Generics Common (x3), SXLD, Anti Virus, Crypto Guard. Still, I keep getting the Action Required pop-up, even though I have rebooted. What am I doing wrong? So frustrating and time-consuming. I feel like giving up and going back to MalwareBytes. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

  • Hi Vickie,

I completely understand your frustration, unnecessary stress caused by the configuration is just annoying and not really appropriate for a home user product.

    Let's try the following out:

    1. Please confirm that you've dragged the icon from the Sophos window to the security settings (see screenshot)?
    2. use the "Add an application" symbol when allowing Full Disk Access to manually add Sophos Installer, too.
    3. In the "General" section of Privacy & Security, do you see something like "System software from developer "Sophos" was blocked from loading"? If so, activate the lock in the bottom left hand corner and then click "Allow":

If this helps out, mark the solution with the "This helped me link" below this post.

    Good luck!

  • Oh my goodness, Intrusus, your third instruction was the charm! All I had to do was Allow in General. I was so focused on Privacy, I missed the notice in General. Why in the heck is that not included in the instructions? Makes me wonder if I would ever want to purchase a more sophisticated product from Sophos.

Anyway, you're the BEST. I appreciate your time and expertise. I was so tired of seeing that pop-up on my screen over and over and over again, always distracting and irritating me. Plus, I knew Sophos wasn't working until the issue was resolved.

I wish you good health and a bright future.

    With gratitude,

    Vickie
