How do I stop high cpu usage Sophos home mac

I have had SophosSXLD running at 99%+ CPU for the last 11 and a half hours. I have now killed the process. It has done this before and I have killed it more quickly, but as it comes back though perhaps it was doing something useful. Can't believe it can be however for so long.

Sophos Home 2.2.5 on mid 2012 Retina Macbook pro running Mojave 10.14.3

The issue reported is currently being investigated by our development team. The only workaround available is to kill the process. If you are using Sophos home premium, you can open a request here for investigation.
